Taste

As I mentioned before (in my previous protein powder review) taste is very important to me.  I like to enjoy what I eat and drink so I was a very happy camper when I tried this one! It’s the best tasting protein powder, I’ve had so far, seriously!  I currently have the Vanilla Chai and Chocolate Delight but will definitely be giving Strawberries N’ Cream a try soon too! I’m excited to see how good that one tastes?

Favorite flavor so far? Vanilla Chai. Usually vanilla protein powder is bland or flavorless but this tastes like rich vanilla ice cream packed with all the right spices! :)

Fit Tip: Save your fruit for another meal. Trust me on this one ladies, it blends very well with just water and ice.

Check out my recipe page for my Clean Brownie Protein Bars recipe using Chocolate Delight.

There are so many different types of protein powders on the market, it can become overwhelming to decide which one is best for you.  When I decided to go Gluten-Free a few weeks back, I did some research on protein powders and decided to give this one a try!

Nutrition Facts

Price

I purchased this protein powder at Vitacost.com for $39.11 for a 2.2 lb bag with 47 servings.

Taste

This is where it really makes it or breaks it for me! I don’t care how good something is for me, I have to enjoy eating/drinking it.  Sadly, I have to tell you, I did not care for the taste of this product, at all. The taste is very earthy, a little chalky and definitely didn’t taste like vanilla to me.  I had to blend the protein powder with handfuls of frozen fruit to somewhat enjoy the taste. I couldn’t imagine drinking this alone with just water. :P I’m super bummed because I had such high hopes for this product! :(

Final Decision

Even though I love the ingredients and the fact that it’s raw plant protein, I will not be purchasing this product again. As of today, I am still drinking it daily, I mean I did pay $40 for it- so I should at least try to finish it! ;)  Needless to say, I am on the look out for another gluten-free protein powder to try, sooner rather than later! ;)

Question: Have you tried Sunwarrior Protein Powder? Thoughts?

XOXO,

Angel

I love Quest bars! If you’ve been following me for awhile, you would definitely know this about me.

My favorite flavors were Quest Cravings Peanut Butter Cups & Coconut Cashew but once I tried the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Quest Bar…I was like, Coconut whooo? ;) No joke, this is like indulging in a sinful dessert! If you’ve been on the fence about whether or not you want to give these bars a try, this flavor should be enough to get you to jump on the Quest bandwagon with yours truly! ;) :)

Oh, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Quest Bar, let me count the ways I love you!

  1. Cleanest Protein Bar on the market (all Quest bars)
  2. 21 grams of protein
  3. 17 grams of fiber
  4. Contain real dark chocolate
  5. Best flavor – My favorite!
I’ve enjoyed eating this bar straight out of the wrapper and also heated in the microwave for 10 seconds. I broke it up in small pieces and topped my greek yogurt with it, post workout- YUM! :)

Ingredient list & nutritional stats from Quest’s website.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Quest Bars can be purchased online here.

You can also purchase Quest Bars at GNC and Vitamin Shoppe. I do not know however, if they sell this flavor yet, since it is so new.

Have you tried one yet? I had my first ‘craving’ yesterday and let me tell you, they were absolutely amazing!! As you already know, I am a huge fan of Quest and this one only made my love for them grow bigger! :) Quest was kind enough to send me one to try out but now I want more! :( Guess, I know which box I’ll be ordering once I run out! :)

Although they don’t taste exactly like a Reese’s pieces peanut butter cup they are definitely delicious and sort of like a million times better for you! :) These dark chocolate peanut butter cups are packed with 20 grams of protein, super low in carbs and such a healthier alternative when the craving hits!  I ate one peanut butter cup as a mid morning snack and the other cup for my mid afternoon snack (120 calories + 10 grams of protein per cup).

So let’s compare their nutritional stats…

That’s about 5 teaspoons of sugar for two Reese’s pieces peanut buttercups! I don’t know about you but I much rather have the high protein peanut butter cups that only have 1 gram of sugar, which is equivalent to a quarter of a teaspoon – big difference right!?

Ingredients to the original Reese’s Pieces peanut butter cups for the sake of comparison.

So here’s what we know:

  1. Their a way healthier alternative to the original Reese’s Pieces peanut butter cups
  2. They taste good
  3. They look good

Check out the peanut butter inside? :)

****

Besides consuming those ^^ delicious peanut butter cups for snacks, I had an overall amazing day of tasty food!

Breakfast was coffee (of course! ;) ), whole grain toast and an omelet (2 egg whites + 1 whole egg) with pesto, laughing cow cheese, spinach, canadian ham and artichoke hearts. I definitely need to add more omelets to my life – I forget how good they are! :)

For lunch, I used the rest of my salad from Sunday’s dinner to add in my hummus and turkey meatball wrap.

We had a craving for Chinese food last night so it was a good thing I picked up some Chickenless Mandarin Orange Morsels from Trader Joe’s when I was there over the weekend. :)  I served it with a side of brown rice, sauteed bell peppers and a generous serving of sriracha sauce. :)

Question: Are you a fan of Reese’s pieces peanut butter cups?

XOXO,

Angel

I think I’m in love!

Hehehe, no but seriously, I’m totally digging P28‘s high protein bread, bagels and flats. :)

Before I get into my review, here are a few facts about their products:

  • 100% Natural
  • 100% Whole Wheat – Made with Oat, Flax Seed, Sunflower Seed, and Millet

Check out Team P28! That’s one power team! :)
I’ve made a list (and included pictures) of ways I’ve tried their product so far…
Bread
  • French toast
  • Turkey sandwich
  • Pesto & laughing cow cheese sandwich
The slices of bread are thick and hearty and taste best when toasted.

Bagels

  • Topped with avocado, eggs and sriracha
  • Banana & almond butter spread
The texture of the bagel is soft & doughy and incredibly filling.  I totally felt like I was eating something ‘bad’ for me because the bagels taste soo good!

Flats

  • Traditional pizza
  • Mexican pizza

Their flats are absolutely perfect (and may I mention ginormous!) to make pizzas.

Usually I can tell you which is my favorite one but honestly, I can’t decide they were ALL delicious and extremly nutritious.  I seriously have found the bread (bagel & flats) of my dreams! Every time I incorporated a P28 product into my meals, I stayed full for hours!

You can purchase P28 products online or in select health stores. I know for me locally, Whole Foods carries these products and they retail for about $5 a pack! That’s not much more than your average 100% whole wheat bread, so seriously why not!? :)

Oh, and guess what else!? They just launched a protein spread too.  If their anywhere near as good as their breads, I’m sold! :)

Thanks P28 for allowing me to sample your products! If you can’t tell already, I’m officially hooked! :)

XOXO,

Angel

Healthy pizza anyone?

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to receive a few free vitapizzas from Vitalicious.  If you read my post on the day that I received them, you’ll remember how excited I was to get them and tried one out that very same night! :)

First off, I was super impressed with how the pizzas arrived. They were shipped in a insulated box with enough dry ice to keep the pizzas cold while being shipped so no worries about them getting spoiled along the way.

A few quick facts: They come in two different flavors meatless pepperoni supreme and cheese and tomato.  They come in single servings and can be reheated in the microwave, toaster oven or conventional oven.

I chose to cook my pizzas in the oven at 425 degrees for 12 minutes to get them nice and crispy. I like my pizzas thin & crispy and that’s exactly how they came out! :) I topped one side with jalapenos and the other side without jalapenos.

The nutritional stats are incredible compared to other frozen pizzas on the market.

Cheese & Tomato

Besides just being 190 calories, they have no artificial ingredients or preservatives.  They are made of whole grains, 15-16-grams of protein, 19-grams of fiber and 15 vitamins and minerals.

I enjoyed both pizzas but the Meatless Pepperoni Supreme was my favorite of the two.  I loved the spicier taste it offered and the mushrooms and peppers that were added on top.  I ate both pizzas with side salads and thought it was a perfect meal to eat, when you need something quick & fast but still healthy and tasty! :)

Meatless Pepperoni Supreme

These are definitely one of the healthiest frozen pizzas that I have had.  I am also a huge fan of Kashi’s frozen pizzas or making them myself using pita bread.

I’ve been a huge fan of their vitatops and after trying their vitapizzas, I am a huge fan of them too! :)

You can purchase vitapizzas in select stores and online.

******

Breakfast & lunch were nothing out of the ordinary.  I made more of my heavenly coconut flour pancakes topped with chocolate casein frosting, a few banana slices and a small handful of chopped walnuts.

For lunch, I had some leftover turkey, green beans and toast topped with laughing cow cheese. Am I the only one left with leftovers from Thanksgiving in the fridge? ;)

I continued working on finishing up the rest of the turkey with last night’s dinner, which was a turkey taco salad.  It was very, very tasty!! Inside my baked whole grain tortilla went lettuce, and a few tablespoons of kidney beans, salsa, brown rice, guacamole, non-fat plain greek yogurt, jalapenos and of course the main ingredient, turkey. :)

Question: Do you have leftovers in your fridge? How are you using them up?

XOXO,

Angel
